Joanne Knight is an Identification Consultant in the Digital Public Service Branch, Department of Internal Affairs, Te Tari Taiwhenua (New Zealand).

She is currently responsible for the maintenance of New Zealand’s new Identification Standards suite. She was also lead editor of ISO/IEC 29003 – Identity Proofing an international technical specification.

Her experience and observations enable her to be at the leading edge of thinking in identification management practice and the standards that support this. She promotes an increasingly accepted future state of identification and further new ideas through her very successful Masterclass series.

Day to day Joanne provides identification advisory services to government which includes education, risk assessment and advice on the design of identification processes. She is also a strong advocate for identification as an independent practice rather than a subset of security.
